Endhiran Music review

The combination of AR Rah man and Director Shankar has brought us some unforgettable music over the years…Jeans still continues to be Sangria of them.

So the Magnanimous production house has it here ENDIRAN. Well! The album fits us with all the expectation we could possibly have. Has all the elements of a big budgeted, Sci –fi and solicitation of Super Star. The album that comes from the fabrication unit of AR and his team composes mainly of modern day revitalized music tracks with ethnic touch, grandeur and the magic of the Mozart as well.

  Arima Arima by msb.bhuvanesh

Pudhiya Manidha :A Peak introduction about Endiran by the maestro& Khatija Rahman. The Guinness holder’s vocals come late and preempt to create something that is path breaking in welcoming a new avatar.

Arima (def-male lion) a powerful intro/ mass solicitation, with instruments playing thunderous sounds in the background. AR Rah man has opted for Sadhana Sargam to give the feel through seemingly. Hariharan on vocals is exhilarating. A cornucopia of fascinating sounds… all working in brilliant sync. Chorus singers, Bass guitar progressions& Band players add to the grandeur.

Kadal Anukkal is nothing short of a pulsating celebration of sorts – that punchy science words adds cryptic. Vijay Prakash, Shreya Ghoshal’s superb vocals add to the delight, along with pulsating guitar phrases all alluring the listeners with foot tapping tune. (Note the Spanish style interlude, string progressions that blends well within,)

Irumbile Oru Idhaiyam: This musical piece is simply divine .A sweet whopper! Simple and poignant tune from AR Rah man that is surprising. Lovely melody with marvelous arrangements, unfortunately the track is short lived A breezy one.

Boom Boom Robo Da :YoGi B, the name I believe will soon be associated with ARR’s composition. The rapper is the real highlight. Techno style track .Music is a bit frivolous, but has enough of Rahman’s touches stand apart and enthrall.Tanglish lyrics by Kaarki add to the funky , vibrant, stylish and youthful no.

Chitti Dance Showcase: More: A New-age fusion A mere musical piece that blends classic instruments and vocals fused in proportions with heavy strings, too dense in the backgrounds as it progresses. with symphony orchestration in between. A zingy package.

Kilimanjaro :Starts of with African ,( Tanzania ) vocals . Instantly brought to life by some beautiful vocals by Javed Ali . Musically, the arrangements rest on a semi-classical /folkish platform with a range of classical instruments & hard drums, all meticulously crafted for a soothing and pepped up experience.

A fascinating and diverse soundtrack that deserves applaud and appreciation. Has most varied folksy and interesting soundtrack and most importantly lives up to our anticipation. Thematic music that will be best seen not heard. A musical marvel

Pookkal pookkum tharunam : Madrasapattinam

  Pookal Pookum by Parthiban

Single song Review:
I have to say that this song will 100% make it into the list of the most heartfelt Tamil love songs! It’s just so beautiful. The interludes, the romance, lead pair vocals and the pain of distance& the subtle differences in their feelings, overflowing relentlessly. Simply divine.

Astonishing lyrics by N. Muthukumar is so creative that makes you want to listen to this number again and again.

A romantic song that captures the love story before the pre- independence era…

Starts with Hindustani /semi carnatic style humming that occur at regular intervals and gains momentum with alluring lyrics (please read the whole lyrics in English/Tamil with translation).

GV Prakash (Music Director) teases us in between with English lyrics with minimal BGM and gains up immediately that adds splendor.

G.V Prakash has to be given credits for making this song hummable with simple poignant tune that perfectly captures the feel and mood. With Hindustani style musical arrangement (tabla, flute pieces and soft keys) all through… for rightful reasons, is appealing and adds to the grandeur.

Pookal Pookum Song Lyrics – Madrasapattinam

                  Pookkal pookkum tharunam aaruyirey
paarththadhaarum illai
O precious life [aaruyire], no one has seen the moment when flowers blossom.
Ularum kaalai pozhudhai
       muzhu madhiyum pirindhuppovadhillai
Even when it [the flower] withers, the full value [of the flower] does not separate and leave

Netruvarai naeram poagavillai
unadharugey neram poadhavilliaye
Until yesterday, time would not go (as in, time went by too slow); [but] the time beside you was not enough (as in, time went by too fast)
Edhuvum pesavillaiye indru eno
edhuvum thoandravillaiye idhu ennavo..
Today, I didn’t say anything, for some reason I didn’t feel anything; O this is something (e.g., something strange/powerful)
Iravum vidiyavillaiye, adhu mudindhaal
             pagalum mudiyavillaiye poondhalirey…
The night did not break (into dawn), even if it broke (into dawn), the day also did not finish – O budding flower [this is the literal meaning of poondhaLire; the figurative meaning is more like 'damsel')
O… O… O…
O… O… O…

Vaarththai thevaiyillai vaazhum kaalamvarai
paavai vaazhvin olippesumey
Words are not sufficient; as long as we live, damsel, [our] eyes will do the talking.
[literal translation of the last part is more like: eye-sight will speak language]
Naetru thevaiyillai naalai thevaiyillai
indru indha nodi poadhumey
Yesterday is not sufficient, tomorrow is not sufficient; today, this moment is sufficient/enough.

Ver indri vidhiyindri vin thoovum mazhiyindri
idhu enna ivan thoattam pooppookkudhey
Without roots, without seeds, without rain sprinkled by the sky; why are the flowers in his garden blossoming?

Vaal indri pore indri
varugindra youththam indri
idhu enna ivanukkul edhedho minnudhey
without sword, without struggle, without painful war – what is this, his love is conquering me.
[I don't know what 'vaal' means in this context... vaal can mean Tail, like a monkey's tail; it can mean mischief (e.g., vaalaattam), but I don't know what it really means here]
Idhayam muzhudhum irukkum indha thayakkam
nenjikkullum irukkum
It will fill the heart; this hesitance will continue standing and stop (our love?…)

Idhaiyariya engu kidaikkum vilakkam
adhu kidaithaal sollavendum enakkum
To learn this, where do I get the explanation? if [you] get it [the explanation], you must tell me as well.

Poondhalirey…..( O budding flower)

Female Version:
Oh where would I be without this joy inside of me?It makes me want to come alive; it makes me
want to fly into the sky!Oh where would I be if I didn’t have you next to me?
Oh where would I be? Oh where, oh where?

Endha megamidhu endhan vaasal vandhu
engum eera mazhaiththoovudhey
What cloud is this? It comes to my doorstep, and in order to make everything wet it sprinkles rain.
Enna uravu idhu edhuvum puriyavillai
endraboadhum idhu nee enben
What relationship is this? Even when I feel that “I don’t understand anything” it [the relationship] lengthens.

Yaar endru ariyaamal
perkkooda theriyaamal ivanoadu oru sondham uruvaanathen
Without knowing who it is, without even knowing the name, you become his very own relation/kindred?
Yenendru ketkaamal varungaalam nirkkaamal
ivan poagum vazhiyengum manam poagudhey
Without asking who it is, without even being stopped by obstacles, my heart/mind goes the same way/path that he goes.

Kaadhal mudindha piragum
indha ulagil payanam mudivadhillaiye
Even after the path ends, the journey in this world does not finish.

Kaatril parandhey paravai varaindha piragum
Flying in the sky, even after the bird disappearsIllai thoadangum nadanam mudivadhillaiye
the dancing that starts does not finish.

Idhu edhuvO……
Pookal pookum tharunam aadhavanae paarthathaarum illaiyae

Ularum kaalai pozhudhai mulumadhiyum pirinthu povadhillaiyae

Netruvarai naeram poga villaiyae, unadhu arugae naeram poadhavillaiyae

Ethuvum paesavillaiyae, indru yaeno ethuvum thoandravillaiyae…enna  pudhumai!!

Iravum vidiyavillaiyae, athu vidinthaal pagalum mudiyavillaiyae
Ithu ethuvo!!

Thaana tho thanana, Thaana tho thanana
Thaana tho thanana thaananey nananaa
Thaana tho thanana, Thaana tho thanana
Thaana tho thanana thaananey nananaa

Inception Review

Di Caprio stars as Dom Cobb, a professional who is capable of navigating through people’s mind in their subconscious state (They enter into the dreams through the injection method. Their dream information is gathered in to a suitcase / kind of data logger which can be accessed again for retrieval)

Di Caprio new assignment is to plant an idea into Fischer’s mind, the head of multimillionaire company (inherited wealth) to separate his large scale business in to two small companies that will benefit Saito(who hires Di Caprio) with business supremacy and in turn free Di Caprio on charges for killing his wife.

The reason for the death of his wife is later reveled. Di Caprio himself was the reason .He would have planted an idea into his wife, which will make her think, that the real world is fake …. When she wakes up from the dream world she feels that she is still in the dream and decides to die (If a person dies in dream world he/ she wakes up)

Di Caprio and his team prepares to do the impossible : A dream within a dream, within a dream .To go so deep into a mind , so deep.. that if he wakes up in the middle ,will make him A dormant or in simple terms, a state of rest in which consciousness of the world is suspended .

Di Caprio s plans are disturbed by the presence of his wife who sprouts   up from his sub consciousness and ruins his well designed and engineered plans.

The story is all about how they plan to enter into Fisher’s mind and plant an idea in it , with brilliantly placed  car chases, car chases into countdowns,  mission on a snowy mountainside , the fight sequence . Christopher Nolan’s script has sewed together 3 layers of dreams all converging at the climax, will twist your mind for sure.

Things that work:
1. Christopher Nolan’s imagination is spell binding and delivering that to the audience would have been an exhilarating mission.
2. Di Caprio relation with his wife is the heart of the story.
3. Narrative story line with subtitles.
4. Anything is possible, from constructing impossibly complex buildings to, in one extraordinary scene, folding an entire city over on top of itself.

Verdict: A movie that will test your intelligence and twist your mind. Coming out of inception won’t leave you disappointed .An ending that will leave you with an agitated feel. Needs preconception & Imagination

Ding Ding- Opening song of the album has VijayPrakash on vocals. Child chorus in between is smooth and an  enjoyable one

Sol Pechu – Yuvan humming is rooted to this song, Chitra has pitched  in
back with her heart rendering vocals. A simple, poignant tune, with minimal orchestration that let the lyrics and vocals fully seep in.

Pootta Paathadhum-  A fast paced tune that has trumpets, Drums to the orchestration and backed by Suchitra’s vocals. An engaging one…

Memory Loss – An experimental song from Yuvan that has his typical trademark .What makes this song special? A completely ghazal-soaked soundtrack (Tabla and Harmonica) mixed with modern day percussion. Kailash Kher & Ranjith have catched the feel. A muddled track

Pattu Pattu- A pop’pish and lilting song, highlight being  Simbhu & Manasi Scott. Dolak interludes in-between adds Punjabi feel to this peppy number.

Thothu Ponen-  The bright and pace voice of Shankar mahadevan works out wonders.      A folkish song with energetic beats.Typical Yuvan instrumentation, a roaring beginning with catchy lyrics.

Idhayam Karaikirathe- A soundtrack that is authentic and situational,A special track composed by Thaman and not Yuvan Shankar…

All songs are fantastically sound programmed by Thaman and is crisp to hear…not the best of Yuvan
